Joy Moments: Turning Yourself Inside Out Part 2

I am sitting on our couch, in pajamas, while our three-year-old dog sleeps beside me and my coffee is safely tucked out of his reach. My children are still upstairs, dreaming about whatever their 11-year-old, unconscious minds are imagining. Life is very good at this exact moment in time. It is easy to be grateful for these moments. Using our  Inside Out  language, my Joy character is running my control center and I’m enjoying one of my favorite core memories. Let me share the story.   After Hurricane Harvey, our friends offered to foster a pregnant German Shepherd mix who needed to evacuate after her shelter flooded. Ladybird, as my friends called her, had no idea that she won the equivalent of a foster home lottery. Her prize was an opportunity to settle into a cozy house and live with people who showered her with love and attention. She had 11 puppies a few days after she arrived. Several weeks later, we met the puppies at the WAYA soccer fields while they were at Austin Pets Alive
